Party
Organ -- SA' ATI
Since its inception the party has always placed
emphasis on political education. It started publishing its party
organ "Sa'ati" in Chinese on 15 January 1960. To
coincide with its political mission at that stage "Sa'ati"
stressed on the unity of all races to fight for Sarawak Merdeka
(independence). Till 1965 "Sa'ati" had come out with 17
issues in the Chinese language, 4 issues in Bahasa Malaysia and
one each in English and Iban. On April 1965 "Sa'ati" was
banned by the government.
It was not until 1975 that the Party organ was revived and changed
to "Suara Rakyat ". Unfortunately its publication became
irregular from 1965 to 1988, and it could only produce 17 issues
in all those years. Since 1989 the party organ has become more
organised and periodic issues could reach members regularly. There
are also efforts being made to publish its Iban edition.
